Top 50 Free Agents for 2009

My list will include all players who’s contracts ended and who’s contract hold an option that has yet to be picked up. Here is my list of the top 50 free agents for the 2009 season:

-The Braves have roughly $45M to spend this offseason so look for them to make a splash but to spend the money wisely.

-The Cardinals have over $20M to spend and they desperately need help in the middle of the infield.

-The Orioles are a darkhorse candidate for me. I could see them trying to spend big on Teixeira and Burnett but I think it would be wise of them to wait at least one more year.

-The Rangers are close to contending and highering Mike Maddux was a step in the right direction. They scored over 900 runs but also gave up over 960 runs. They could use some serious help on defense and I would look for them to dangle Blalock. I would love to see them do that and move Michael Young to third and sign Adam Everett to play short. Won’t happen, though.
